Billions Wasted on A Picture

"What I see is the grandeur of creation, however it got there...." That quote is from Hubble senior scientist Dave Leckrone. [Assoc Press article here.]

What is it in scientists that will not allow them to say "creation" without some qualifying language that refuses to acknowledge God? Is it that their peers are so intolerant they cannot say God for fear of being ostracized?

This picture is from the refurbished Hubble space telescope. It is a picture of the remnants of a dying star. The "butterfly wings" are superheated gases(36000 degress) being expelled at over 600,000 miles per hour. That speed would give you a round-trip to the moon in 24 minutes.  The Butterfly is located 3800 light years from earth.

The temperatures, the distances, the speeds of events happening in the Universe are mind-boggling. But, to witness these and claim they are accidental - evolutionary processes - is beyond my understanding. The minds which can do the math, the engineering, the calculations, with will and determination as exhibited by our scientists, must believe in their science as religion as I do my Christianity - with faith.

They have the faith to believe what is happening in the picture is accidental, and the faith to believe that in the breath of their life-spans they will cease to exist. How do they live with that thought?

My contention is they don't. They lie about their beliefs in the furtherence of their careers to serve the god of Pragmatism. Without their sciences to worship how else would they dull their sense of transcendence? I think I'll stick with my God knowing that when I no longer exist here, I will exist with Christ in heaven. We do not just cease to exist.

I do, however, have a question I would like answered if anyone can: Why do we spend trillions of dollars to take pictures of places we can never go, if this life is all there is? Shouldn't we at least spend some of the trillions of dollars that have been spent for a useless enterprise to feed some of the people starving in Ethiopia, Somalia, Uganda, Nigeria? Are we so callous we actually believe the vast sums of money spent just to take some pictures are better spent than helping the starving and homeless around us now? Apparently the pragmatic god of science really doesn't care about anything but itself.

Where is the outrage from the Liberal Left Socialits of the world that millions of people are starving right now and we could alleviate that hunger with the money we have wasted? Where is the outrage from the so-called conservative Right? All that hot-air from the political left and right - about helping "those in need," is just that - hot air.

I think the truth is all the politicians of the world want more power and nothing else. In reality they could care less about their fellow human beings, this planet, or anything that doesn't directly feed their egoes or wallets.

Every human being on the planet could be fed. clothed and housed tonight with the money we spent to take this snap-shot. We have a lot to answer for.
President Obama if you want to help people of color: Feed them! Stop NASA from wasting money taking useless pictures.
